Scrofula is a bacterial infection that settles in the cervical lymph nodes (lymph nodes under your chin). It is more commonly found in children around the Ohio River area. My daughter somehow ended up with it and we live in Oklahoma. During Medieval times it was known as 'King's evil'. Basically, if you don't remove the infected lymph node it will grow larger and larger until an opening forms and it can drain.
